White Ribbon describes it as one small part of the much larger White Ribbon social change movement that operates 365 days a year.
Now, the organisation is extending its campaign, bringing attention to the issue of the prevention of men’s violence against women and gender equality with 16 Days of Activism.
The 16 Days of Activism run from White Ribbon Day, on November 25, to Human Rights Day, on December 10.
During this period South East Women And Children Services are planning a number of activities throughout the region.
On November 28, SEWACS is setting up a stall in Littleton Gardens, Bega. From 11am-2pm.
There will be a magistrate’s barbecue at the stall, giving people the chance to meet court staff on the frontline of domestic violence legal disputes.
A similar magistrate’s barbecue will be held in Eden on December 6.
SEWACS will fly their banner at the Sapphire Coast Turf Club race day on December 4, and are planning a film screening at the Bega Civic Centre and a collaboration with the Bega Fun Run.
The group will also distribute coasters in pubs and clubs to provide reminders and resources to eliminate gendered violence.
