She discovered the children’s charity Variety, raise funds through selling donated hair, which is then turned into wigs for people who have lost their hair due to medical conditions.
“People have always admired my thick hair and said it would make a good wig,” she said.
“It was simple to download a form but there are a few criteria.
“By coincidence the day of my appointment also happened to fall in National Recycle Week, something my husband and I are passionate about.
“I feel really satisfied knowing that in a small way I’ve helped someone, and not wasted hair that could be used for this purpose.”
