Police attended the scene just after 8am. They determined the trailer had begun to sway as it travelled north along the highway.
The driver braked to regain control of the vehicle, but the car and trailer veered off the road, causing both to roll a number of times down an embankment.
The 29 year old Bega male driver was unharmed and tested negative on a breath test. His passenger was taken to hospital with an arm injury.
Bega Police chief inspector Anthony Moody said drivers need to ensure control of their trailers.
“Once a trailer starts to sway you need to correct it as soon as possible,” he said.
“Whenever you are towing you need to be mindful of the weight on the back.”
Police will continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
