This award recognises outstanding service to Red Cross.
A very surprised but grateful Margaret was applauded and presented with her award by Wolumla Red Cross president Carol Newton and zone representative Pam Hamory.
Margaret joined Wolumla Red Cross on August 16, 1978, when she and her family moved to this area. She has held many positions over the past 39 years.
Margaret has been president, secretary and treasurer, and she is currently one of the patrons for Wolumla Red Cross.
She represents the branch every Tuesday by manning the Red Cross coin table in the Bega shopping centre, assisted by various members, and this coin table has been the only one left in NSW for many years.
As secretary, Margaret kept the cogs of the Wolumla branch turning for 26 years. She spent many years doing Telecross, she helped with function catering, worked at the Bega Saleyards kiosk, and streets stalls benefited from her green thumb and her delicious cooking.
Margaret is a quiet worker, with the ability to see what needs to be done and just gets on with the job.
As patron of the Wolumla branch of Red Cross she promotes the ideals of Red Cross and encourages the current and potential members to continue with the good work and fundraising initiated by her and her Wolumla Red Cross team many years ago.
