The statistic was revealed in a questions and answers paper on October 19, which showed 2365 tonnes of firewood was logged in the area, compared to zero in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2008.
Mr Blair was answering the questions on behalf of Lands and Forestry Minister Paul Toole, which also revealed firewood accounted for 26 per cent of logging operations in the South Coast, up from 18.4 per cent the previous year and less than one per cent in 2004.
Harvest plans for Eden and Southern Regional Forest Agreement regions started indicating yields of firewood expected in logging operations in 2014. Forestry only records firewood produced if it is sold commercially.
