The school’s mixed 4x100m relay team of Rochelle Jenson, Janu Porter, Finn Bajaro and Otis Waratah claimed third place in the Norm and Elizabeth Austen Small Schools Relay in a time of 1 minute 3.63 seconds at Sydney’s Olympic Park in Homebush last week.
The athletes got off to a perfect start with a victory in their heat, followed by a competitive race in the semi-final qualified them for the final.
"We are just so proud of them,” parent Mel Bajaro said after the team’s bronze medal winning run in the final.

“To come from such a tiny school, make it all the way to Homebush, and return with a bronze medal was a special highlight for our small community with a big heart.
“We had constant updates through to parents back home and a direct line to the classroom throughout the day to share the excitement and results.”
“It was an enormous effort by everyone, getting to regionals in Canberra and then to state level in Sydney, with months of training afternoons,” she said.
“We have some dedicated kids and parents at Tanja Public School, so it's pretty special to be part of it.”
A successful day was complete when the team met with former Olympian Melinda Gainsford-Taylor.
