Experience one big night of Spanish culture

The sounds, smells and sights of Spain are coming to Bega for one special night.

While the politics of Catalonia unravels, the vibrant European nation’s music, theatre, dance and food will be on show this weekend.

The One Night in Spain cultural experience will be held at Bega’s Funhouse Studio from 7.30pm on Saturday, October 21.

The nation of Spain sits on the the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, it is the fourth largest country in the European continent and the language is the world's second most spoken first language, after Mandarin Chinese.

All aspects of the night will be intertwined with each other, creating a unique experience.

Musicians Dave and Sam Crowden and Chris Boyle serenade the crowd, while actor Peter O’Brien, playing the role of Ferdinand the Bull will be joined by “Jaime” Forbes and the Improvisers.

The magical movement of Far South Flamenco, led by Veronica Valderama, will bring the space alive with an art-form based on the folkloric music traditions of Southern Spain.

Ms Valderama started dance lessons at the age of six and at 15 was admitted to the Instituto Superior de Arte, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She danced with the Teatro Colón Company, and in 1997 began a twelve year stay with the National Mexican Ballet in Mexico City, as a soloist and a member of the corps de ballet.

After retiring in 2009 she moved to Australia and now lives and teaches on the Far South Coast.

In 2010, UNESCO declared flamenco one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The audience will also be invited to join in the fun cabaret-style and are welcome to bring their own tapas and drinks, or purchase some food from the cantina on the night, organisers said.

MC "Jaime" Forbes will lead the improvised theatre makers on a hysterical historical and geographical journey through the distinct regions of Spain.

Tickets for the night cost $25, and bookings can be made by calling 6495 7160.
