Events secretary Susan Bassett said it was always a big weekend with between 40-50 riders attending on the Saturday and 70-90 riders taking part on Sunday, age from three years to 25 years.
“We are a small club with only 15 riding members and are we are part of Zone 14 which runs from Milton to Eden with Wyndham and Bemboka as well. We get riders from as far as Adaminaby, Dalgety, Delegate , Cooma, Mallacoota and Cann River. We have a full canteen running over the weekend so please come and have a look at our local young riders if you are looking for something to do,” Susan said.
One aspect the club is unable to do anything about is the state of the road that goes from the Princes Highway to the Pony Club’s grounds.
“There are quite a lot of pot holes and it’s quite rough in places,” Susan said.
“It’s quite difficult for the horse floats and even if it was just graded it would be good,” she said.
However, David Warren who had a long association with the Pony Club and runs the nearby paintball business believes the half a kilometre of road to the grounds should be sealed.
“It was supposed to be sealed when the sewer works were done but it never happened,” David said.
He said that dust was a problem and it needs grading to take out some of the potholes.
David doesn’t believe council would seal the road but is looking at the possibility of fundraising to seal the road by holding some special events at the grounds.
