Candelo resident Phil Moriarty is a founding member of the Gadflys. He and brother Mick first formed the group in 1982 and eventually found their way onto ABC's Good News Week with Paul McDermott, playing original songs to a mass audience in their jungle skiffle style.
The last Gadflys' album was released in 2001 so the brothers have decided to get together and work up songs for a new recording.
The band, including original drummer and bassist ,Pete Velzen and Elmo Reid, will be hanging at Phil's place in Candelo for a week and working on new material. They are playing a gig at the General Store Cafe on Friday, September 29, and will be doing some new songs as well as a selection of their older material.
Proudly presented by that cultural behemoth The Candelo Arts Society, don't miss this chance to see a terrific group in action. Show starts at 8pm. Tickets $25 available at www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=315014.
