The Far South Coast Cricket Association will host two girls try days to welcome more girls into the sport and help grow junior competition into the future.
Britt is the development officer for the Cricket ACT/Southern region and there had been a boom in women’s involvement in cricket and wanted to embrace that on a local level.
She made her Australian debut in 2002 and has since represented in 17 Tests and been a feature for the ACT Meteors.
The first girls “come and try day” will be held at Merimbula’s Berrambool Oval on Sunday from 10am until noon. Players and development staff from the ACT Meteors and Sydney Thunder women’s teams will be on hand to coach players.
Girls of any age are welcome to come to try cricket under the guidance of these international players. Both coaching sessions are completely free.
The second session will be held in Bermagui on September 24 from noon until 2pm.
Cricket Australia is also offering free community coach courses with a session will run at the Bermagui Surf Life Saving Club on Friday from 5.30 to 9.30pm.
To sign up you must sign on as a coach at www.community.cricket.com.au then follow the links to the community coaching courses.
