At 1.05pm a Ford SUV, with South Australian registration, was travelling north on the Princes Hwy from Merimbula to Canberra when smoke began to billow from the front of the car, police say.

According to police, the male driver, his wife and two daughters exited the vehicle at the Finucane Ln turn off just south of Bega before the engine burst into flames.

It’s understood no-one was injured in the incident.
