The under 11s were back to their best, claiming an 8-0 win over the Merimbula Grasshoppers.
Officials said it was a nice way to finish their very successful season. The team only had one loss and will likely become a force to be reckoned with in the under 12s next year.
The under 14s still have a couple of rounds to play, but claimed a 4-0 win over the Grasshoppers after a 3-0 lead at the break.
A spokesman said there were plenty of chances in the second half, but a few shots faded wide or bounced off the crossbar as Tathra took control.
Woti Fastigata made at least three critical saves to keep Merimbula scoreless. Goal scorers included Alex Mozina with a brace, and Nathan Jensen and Eddie Blewett with one goal each.
The 16s had a 3-3 draw with the Grasshoppers after levelling 1-1 at the break.
David Fantham put the side ahead with a great header, but the Grasshoppers bounced back, scoring off a corner. Duncan Weber was very strong at centre back protecting goalkeepers Oli Clarke (first half) and Josh Sass (second half) who each made some great saves.
Fantham continued to produce the goals, including a well-taken penalty and a truly brilliant long range free kick into the top right-hand corner, to give Tathra a 3-1 lead. Merimbula scored from a penalty with about 10 minutes to go to set up a tense finish. Unfortunately for Tathra, Merimbula scored from a header off a corner with the final play of the game to level the score.
The Tathra ladies secured a comfortable 4-0 win over the Grasshoppers.
Goal scorers included Amanda Stevenson (three) and Sam Crowley (one) while Chloe Harlow kept a clean sheet in goals.
In first grade, the United side put together one of their best performances to secure a 2-0 win over the ‘Hoppers.
A spokesman said poor second half showings had hurt Tathra during the season, but kept good intensity this round.
A nice pass from Tim Dowman released Sam Collins down the right wing to deliver a great cross for Andrew Morrison to score from a diving header at the far post.
Jordan Rettke defended the lead well with a great showing in goals, with an orchestrated back-line headed by Matt Rutter.
A key shift that paid dividends experienced defender Blake Motbey moving in as striker to score a spectacular goal in the second half.
United now looks forward to the final few regular matches and finals opportunities for both the 16s and women’s sides, who will both face the Wolumla Tigers.
