A kangaroo shot with a hunting arrow was left in distress and bleeding near Brogo on Wednesday morning.

A property owner in the area spotted the large roo lying under pine trees but noticed something brightly coloured on it and went closer to investigate.
The bright orange “something” turned out to be the feathers of what appears to be a hunting arrow, with the shaft reportedly entering just above the kangaroo’s rump but penetrating all the way through to its abdomen, causing serious injury.
It was clear to the local the kangaroo was beyond saving.
“I called WIRES, but was on hold for quite a while,” he said.
“I made the decision to put the roo out of its misery as I observed it slowly fading away. After one shot, placed well, the roo suffered no more.
“I removed the arrow and was disgusted to find it had penetrated almost all the length of the arrow.
“I would hate to think a neighbour was capable of doing something like this. And if it wasn't a neighbour, who and how did this happen?”
