The Sea Eagles surged in the third and fourth quarters to win comfortably 21-18-144 to 4-11-35.
The visiting Tathra side shot some quick early goals to take charge before the Diggers bounced back with some strong passages of play in the opening quarter.
The Sea Eagles took charge from the clearances with a dominant display as Troy O’Loghlin and Luke Taylor combined through the middle to ensure most play was pushing forward for the Sea Eagles.
The visitors surged ahead to a three-goal advantage, before the Diggers quickly shifted gears and fired back with two goals in quick succession.
However, the run of possession swayed swiftly back to the Eagles as they dominated mark contests and were able to clear the ball from a number of tackles.
Billy Stubbs was impressive for the hosts, matching his man and providing some quick forward-momentum for the hosts, but strong displays by Louis Coulton and Dennis Paratene meant the hosts simply couldn’t match on the scoreboard.
Coulton led the count for the Sea Eagles with one of his season-best displays of six goals, while O’Loghlin pushed out of the midfield to claim four.
Paratene was also high in the goal-count with three majors to his name, while John Simos led the charge for the Diggers with a pair of goals.
The Diggers mounted some long-range shots on goals, but were denied the six points by fingertips as the ball was batted through for a single.
Earlier, the Tathra development grade had gone down to a strong Pambula contingent at the Pambula Sporting Complex.
The Panthers claimed the win 11-10-76 to 2-3-15 after keeping their visitors scoreless in the opening period.
Jeffrey Adams and Angus Tarpey shared honours for the hosts, kicking three goals apiece, while Kiah Beruldsen and Kye Solomon were the sole goal-kickers for the Sea Eagles.
The hosts proved too strong throughout the entire match and the Panthers will go into development grade finals as a likely favourite for the flag.
With just one round left to play in the home and away season, the Sea Eagles are holding down third place in both the seniors and the development grade, while the women’s side holds the advantage two points clear of Eden at the top of the table.
Tathra will host the Breakers in the final round this weekend in a special charity round fundraiser for Emma Orr.
