The fire service’s Community Safety Officer Marty Webster said the blaze began at 1.30pm on a rural property along Tantawangalo Mountain Rd while a resident was burning blackberry bushes.
“They made the call early before it got to big for them,” Mr Webster said.
While only a small 25 square metre blaze, Mr Webster said anyone burning off should take precautions given current conditions.
“I keep reinforcing that at the moment the frost cured grasses are dry, crispy and ready to burn,” he said.
“Combined with the Spring like winds, I ask residents to take particular care.”
