The 14s are guaranteed a semi-finals spot despite two rounds remaining with an eight-point buffer. 

Meanwhile, the 16s suffered a 4-0 loss to the Grasshoppers under lights at Berrambool. 

The Grasshoppers had it all their way early to lead 3-0 at the break and despite an improved performance in the second half from the visitors, they could only slow the Hoppers’ lead. 

The 16s also took on the undefeated Wolumla Tigers on Sunday at the Wolumla Rec Ground, going down 4-2. 

Officials said a couple of quick breakaways led to Wolumla scoring twice to lead at the break. However, Tathra regrouped and continued to impress with passing moves that were rewarded when Ewan Piotrowski fired home for Tathra. Then Kamish Threadgate scored from close range after Wolumla failed to clear the ball from their penalty area to level the score at 2-2.

The Tigers scored a late penalty shot to lead 3-2 and finished off with another late goal. 

The ladies went down 2-0 to Wolumla after trailing by one at the break. 

Officials said it was just the second time Tathra had a full outfit and it was a close game with Wolumla just getting the better of their chances. 

With Wolumla third on the table and Tathra fourth, Tathra will hope to prevail in the likely re-match between these two sides in the minor semi-final in three weeks’ time.

In first grade mens, United trailed 1-0 to Wolumla at the break, but tired in the second half as the Tigers slotted a series of goals to win 6-0.
