Constable Kenneth Coussens, his wife and their nine-month-old son were killed on July 29, 1957 when a homemade bomb planted by Myron Kelly obliterated the Coussens family home and shocked surrounding residents out of their beds and onto the streets.
Chief inspector Tony Moodie read an extract from The Canberra Times about the event and paid tribute to Constable Coussens and his family.
A family member of the Coussens also spoke, before a minute’s silence and a wreath laying ceremony to conclude the 10-minute event.
