Buses were brought in to replace trains between Kiama and Shellharbour Junction after the incident, about 150 metres north of Kiama station.
The car was involved in a parking accident and went through the rail corridor fence about 9.30am, stopping just short of the train tracks.
A spokesman for NSW TrainLink said train services resumed about 10.20am, after the car was towed from the site and it was confirmed there was no damage to track infrastructure.
