Bega High School’s girls Aussie rules team has claimed the South Coast regional title, and now have their eyes set for a win at the state level. Coach Bindy Hayes said her players couldn’t be more excited.

“They’re just over the moon,” she said. “Now that it’s organised, I’m getting pretty excited too.”
The girls outperformed Ulladulla High and Caroll College at Broulee on Monday in the regional final.
They will compete against other regional champions on August 8 in Blacktown for the Tracey Mitchell Cup.
Ms Hayes said it was a great effort from the girls.
“It’s a great thing for women’s AFL, it’s really growing at the moment and it’s only getting bigger.”
Ms Hayes said it was the first time the school had reached this point in the competition.
“It’s not a big AFL school, but the girls have given it their best and that’s the mentality that got them here.”
Ms Hayes thanked Tathra AFL Club, Bega P&C and Sapphire Coast AFL for financially supporting the next stage of the competition.
