School holiday program teaches children the art of puppet making | PHOTOS

In Bega, a week-long school holiday program Deep in the Reef came to an end on Friday with children and parents walking through town dressed as coral reef dwelling marine animals including jellyfish and sea turtles.

The project gave children the opportunity to learn about giant puppet making, and discuss ideas about how to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

Facilitator Sue Andrew said the program also aimed to address current events like the Stop ADANI campaign in a positive and creative light, and empower children to stand up in a playful way, she said.
