The show is based on a true story about Cline’s endearing friendship with Houston fan Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.
The show’s title was inspired by Cline’s letters to Seger, which were consistently signed “Love ALWAYS…Patsy Cline.”
Complete with down home country humour, true emotion and even some audience participation, it includes 27 of Patsy’s unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight.
Always...Patsy Cline has enjoyed great success all over the United States, including a successful run off-Broadway.
Always...Patsy Cline has also been enjoyed internationally by audiences in Canada, the UK and Australia.
This new production directed by AFI award-winning Denny Lawrence stars award-winning Australian country music singing sensation Courtney Conway as Patsy Cline and popular stage star Mandi Lodge.
Musical director Ross Sermons, who has performed with greats like Steve Winwood, features as guitarist, with Melbourne drummer Tommy Harrison in the live on stage band, The Bodacious Bobcats.
Conway’s awards include Best New Talent at the 2011 VIC and National Country Music Awards, and Single of the Year, Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year awards at the 2015 West Australian Country Music Awards. Her debut album made it into the top 10 on the ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart.
Lodge is a seasoned British-born performer having played lead roles in major productions of Sweeney Todd and Educating Rita.
She has worked with HIT Productions previously in Menopause The Musical and her acclaimed performance in Peter Quilter’s one woman play Just The Ticket.
Following a highly successful 20-week tour in 2016, Always…Patsy Cline is back on the road in 2017 for an extensive national tour.
Always...Patsy Cline is the first major performance in support of the Twyford Theatre By The Sea project.
The aim of this project is to build a performing arts theatre in the heart of Merimbula next door to Twyford Hall. As part of that campaign, a series of professional productions are coming to Twyford Hall to give the Bega Valley a taste of the standard of entertainment the new complex will be able to host.
This production will be performing at Twyford Hall Merimbula on June 27-28 at 7.30pm both nights.
