After weather postponed earlier efforts to play, primary students from Pambula to Wollongong descended on Batemans Bay recently.
Also this year, teams were competing for the honour of being the first team to have their name engraved on the Phil Jackson shield.
And having Mr Jackson on board as master strategist for the Bombers provided extra drive for the Bombers to play their best.
In the first game on the ‘big field’ the Bombers showed their skills of long passing against a determined Eurobodalla side. The bombers ran out winners 21-7.
Next they faced North Illawarra. The Bombers revelled on the small field, showing great ball control and handling to get the ball out from tight rucks find space for their team mates. Will B led the goal scorers with a pair as the Bombers won 39-15.
Back to the big field against the Tablelands, the Bombers played some brilliant open running football to run out winners 20-8.
The next match up against South Illawarra looked like it would be the toughest of the day with Southern winning by a point on the siren.
The Bombers were able to claim the Phil Jackson shield in a great show for the Far South Coast.
It was a fantastic day with seven Bombers earning selection in the South Coast team that is in the State Championships this week.
Congratulations to Jayden Puglisi, Tyge Matters, Kai Holt, Beau Bennet, Will Kellar, Lachlan Moresi and Jardy Palmer.
