Spiral Gallery’s annual exhibition of small artworks regularly attracts hundreds of entries and this year is expected to be no different.
The event is now in its seventh year – 350 entries were submitted in 2016.
Anyone can enter Plethora of Postcards using whatever medium they choose. There is never a theme as organisers want artists to have the freedom to explore.
The only requirement is size – the artworks must be of A6 size (105x148mm), and under 200mm high for those that are 3D.
“This condenses art into an essential jewel,” the exhibition’s joint curator Jock Morse said.
“When you see a whole room of postcards, with the walls full, it’s a fantastic visual feast. It’s amazing what people come up with when interpreting the form of a postcard.”
Prizes will be presented in a number of categories, including adults, youth, juniors and people’s choice.
A new category has also been launched for this year with a series of three or more by a single artist also in the running for a prize
Each postcard must be original work.
To enter email spiralpostcards@gmail.com or call 6492 5322. Entry forms must be submitted by 4pm June 2.
Your artworks are then to be delivered to Spiral Gallery before Tuesday, June 13.
Andrew Gray from South East Arts will be the judge this year, with the exhibition of all entries and announcement of winners on Friday, June 16, from 5pm.
The exhibition will run through until July 12, when the people’s choice winner will be revealed.
