Organisers said they had never seen so many people turn up to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather while strolling around stalls full of mostly local creations, in harmony with the market’s sustainable theme.
Pupils turned their classroom into a rainforest after studying them and the impact of their destruction on wildlife, humans and the earth. They also had a palm oil display showing the everyday products that contain palm oil.
The children also studied some major artists with teacher Karyn Everingham last term and had a Jackson Pollock painting day! This inspired them to make more artwork for cards, key rings and bookmarks to sell at the market.
Various music performances and entertainers were enjoyed by market goers all day, while younger children were enthralled with the Tathra Playgroup stall where they could decorate their own cupcakes.
The Tanja School P&C was kept very busy serving from the barbecue and curry stall and pupils were rostered on to run the lemonade stand as well as looking after the classroom gallery and rainforest – from all indications they loved getting into the spirit of the day.
The school community was also pleased to introduce new teaching principal Lee-Ann Thomson to the experience of a Tanja Market Day!
The school thanked all past parents, staff and students who pitched in to support the day.
