The visitors held their own, but were not able to overcome the Sea Eagles, going down 16-16-112 to 13.11-89.
The Sea Eagles appear to have created the dream team in the front lines of the senior competition with another resounding result won by the forwards.
The combination of Dean Gartside and Louis Coulton again rattled the opposition as the pair fired kicks to the big posts relentlessly.
Gartside led the scoring tally with seven of the club’s 16 goals, while Coulton backed up his man-of-the-match efforts with another five majors against the Panthers.
Club captain Luke Taylor worked hard out of the middle and was rewarded for his efforts with three goals to his name on the day.
Despite the final result, the Panthers had the hosts on the back foot early, leading 31 to 16 at the first quarter break with Aaron Proctor and Jake Taylor leading the charge.
However, the Sea Eagles were resplendant in the second quarter, piling on nine goals to two against their rivals and setting up a 30-point lead by the main break.
The third quarter provided more of the same with the hosts taking four goals to two and extending their lead to 40 points.
The Panthers fought back well in the final period, reeling back to the Sea Eagles to some degree, but finishing 23 points shy of the 2016 premiership winners.
The club also raised their flags in a ceremony to celebrate the successes of the previous season.
Continuing the winning theme, the reserve grade Sea Eagles had a convincing result over the Moruya/Broulee Giants.
The Sea Eagles claimed the game 15-15-105 to 2-6-18.
Both goals for the visitors came in the third quarter, while the hosts piled on the points throughout on Saturday.
Kiah Beruldsen led the tally with three majors to his name, while a small troop of players collected two goals apiece.
Hayden deSilva, Wayne Flinn, Tim Leser Brad McKay and Ben Parker all kicked a pair in a rousing effort for the club.
Matt O’Reilly and Neil Rainbow each kicked a solitary goal to round out the major scoring.
The Sea Eaglettes had a bye round and didn’t play on the weekend, but will look to this weekend when they meet the newly formed Bega Bombers.
Tathra will host Narooma in seniors at Lawrence Park, while the reserves head to Pambula to face off against the Panthers.
