International Midwives Day is celebrated annually on an international level to celebrate our midwives and increase awareness about the contribution of midwives towards women and families worldwide. It is also a day to honour all midwives for their huge contributions towards the health of all women, children and families.
The theme for this year is “Midwives Mothers and Families partners for life”. Our midwives understand that by working in partnership with women and their families, they can support them to make better decisions about what they need to have a safe and fulfilling birth
All mothers, families, women and children are invited to celebrate with them at a morning tea in the downstairs courtyard at SERH from 11am until 1pm.
This day has become quite a tradition in the Valley and has been celebrated for over 20 years, with the usual range of stalls, displays, fun activities and healthy snacks available.
For the Valley it is an opportunity to acknowledge the marvellous contribution by midwives and to increase the awareness of their vital role in the health district.
