About 6.50am on Saturday, April 22, a 22 year old male from Bega was driving a Toyota Hiace van along the Snowy Mountains Highway, Bemboka.
Police observed the rear taillights on the vehicle were not working. Police stopped the vehicle and issued the man with defect notice.
A subsequent check of the man’s ACT licence found it was suspended.
He was issued with a court attendance notice for May 23, charged with driving while suspended.
BEGA
About 11am on Saturday, April 22, a 44 year old male from Narooma was driving a Holden Commodore along the Princes Highway, Bega when he was stopped at a RBT site.
After returning a negative reading, the driver produced a positive reading for illicit drugs.
The driver was taken to Bega Police Station where he returned a positive reading for methamphetamine.
He was banned from driving for 24 hours, and depending on returned lab results may be charged with driving with illicit drug present.
BATEMANS BAY
Police were conducting stationary random breath testing for alcohol on Beach Road, Batemans Bay Saturday morning, April 22, as part of Operation Go Slow.
A grey Hyundai was stopped at 11.15am travelling east with a father and child in the vehicle. The 43 year old driver from Batemans Bay recorded a positive reading.
Being a P1 driver he was arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.
He recorded a mid range reading. He had his licence suspended and will appear at Batemans Bay Local Court on June 5.
