A sickle moon sat above the Bega War Memorial Gates as hundreds of veterans, their families, RSL members, and the community turned out in darkness to pay their respects.
Regular emcee John Watkin again led the service, which included a special address from Lieutenant Julian Storm of the 5th Engineers regiment and a lone bugler playing The Last Post and Reveille.
The official Anzac Day march will begin at 10.45am from Club Bega with the service to follow at the memorial gate from 11am.
