Bega’s first grade and ladies rosters secured comfortable wins, while the reserves and under 18s were much closer encounters with just two points separating both games.
The under 18s were able to claim the win 16-14, while the reserves suffered a hard-fought loss to the Tigers in a 30-32 scoreline.
The headline act had drawn plenty of excitement with the Bay regaining some key players who had been out in the earlier round.
The Tigers had been short of captain-coach Mason Harrison and star fullback Mick Taditch against the Bulldogs, but were back to full strength.
Roosters spokesman Dave Armstrong had said the Bay side was a “bit of an unknown quantity” in the senior grade, but the Roosters made no huff about taking it to their northern rivals.
The Roosters ran out big winners with a 56-16 final score, while the league-tag Chicks had a similarly strong result against the Tigresses 28-6.
In the first grade encounter, Todd Ingram appeared to have some sort of X factor over the Bay as he stormed in try after try and even a pair of conversion kicks to round out the day with five four-pointers.
It was all the big men of the Bega line-up paving the way as Ingram and captain-coach Kane Morgan scored tries within just minutes of each other, running in four-pointers from the restart.
Filling out the scoring for the front three in just the opening half was Jarrod Tamatea scoring in the 39th minute with Bega leading 28-0 at the break.
In the second half, the momentum switched and suddenly it was the outside backs doing plenty of work as the scoring continued for the Roosters.
Declan Bower-Scott, Luke Dowdle and Scott Galeano all crossed in the second half, with Clay Child lining up for some accurate kicks on goal.
The Bay offered much more fight in the second half with Harrison scoring before Brodie Ralph landed a double.
In the league-tag, Madison Parbery had opened the scoring within the first minute off a good line break.
Elyse Philipzen and Tahlia Braunack followed up with tries of their own for the Chicks to lead 16-0 at the break.
The Tigresses fought back in the first minute of the second half with Nikki-Leigh Francis finding the line, but Parbery scored again after the break before Taelar Williams crossed for the final try to seal the result.
A conversion kick separated the under 18s with James Grant providing the difference slotting two of his three attempts and scoring a four-pointer for himself.
Round four goes ahead this weekend.
