Coulton led the charge from the front as the Eagles rallied at a frantic pace in the final quarter against the Eden Whalers to win 23-17-155 to 11-7-73. 

It was a huge day of play with a women’s grand final rematch as well, where Tathra took control early, but went down to the Whalers 5-5-35 to 2-5-17.

In the seniors, it was an awe-inspiring performance from Coulton in the final quarter after the Whalers reeled in the visitors to trail by just a couple of goals at the three-quarter break. 

Coulton was only matched by Dean Gartside, who went one better with a nine goal haul, but the man of the match medal was claimed by Coulton, who fought for possession tirelessly through the middle. 

Dean had combined well with his younger brother Shane, who also boasted a two-goal haul.

The Sea Eagles burst into the first quarter at break-neck speed with some blazing passages of play around the flanks. 

Rick Spink controlled the ruck early and even made some advances forward where we was able to capitalise on a couple of towering marks and boot a goal. 

Meanwhile, Dennis Paratene and Chris Dwyer were working overtime with blitzes around the edges. 

This helped the club to an early 30-point lead at the first break. 

However, the Whalers fought back in the second and third quarters, closing in to just 15 points with handy goals to Liam Wilkinson and a pair to Ben Thomas. 

It was then Coulton and Dean firing up front as Tathra outscored Eden 11 goals to one in the final period. 

The ladies game appeared to be in the bag for Tathra at the halfway mark, but it was not to be as Eden took control in the later stages. 

The Eaglettes scored a snap shot goal early in the first quarter to take the lead, while both clubs battled out possession through the middle. 

Tarni Evans was a standout, while some of the fresh faces for Tathra added a surprisingly good impact with hard runs on the ball and some exceptional tackling. 

For Eden it was the danger trio of Mel and Kate Mitchell and Kamilla Grubesic proving hard to contain with the latter doing the damage on the scoreboard. 

Grubesic bagged a pair of goals for Eden to seal the result in a great display of women’s Aussie rules from both teams. 

The under 11s match favoured the hosts as the Whalers kept Tathra scoreless in the fourth quarter, while piling on 30 points to win 81-28.
