Festival production manager Sam Martin said this year’s festival, running from April 21 to 23, has a fresh feel, new format and an exciting program.
“It has been nine years since a this vibrant little festival hit the circuit of the South East where it has built a stellar reputation as a highly regarded arts and community event,” Mr Martin said.
“This years’ festival celebrates the developments in Candelo and the whole town is getting involved.
“Alongside the river under majestic trees Candelo’s stores, cafes, hotel, church, art gallery, bowling club and monthly markets, come together with the music of the town to host the Village Festival. Camping will also be welcomed on-site this year.
Festival goers will find the town buzzing with the Free Village Fair featuring live music, dance, games, and circus events programmed across the village throughout Saturday and Sunday.
“Feel at home and make new friends, acoustic music sessions are encouraged,” Mr Martin said.
This year all shows are in the famous Candelo Town Hall with tickets sold per show.
The Village Fringe Pass secures the holder entry to all festival fringe events in the Town Hall throughout the weekend.
It includes admission to the Opening Night Music and Variety Party, local bands, the Novellas, Michael Hanlon and the Sweet Valentino’s.
Literary events will include, Holly Throsby in conversation about her new book Goodwood, Ailsa Wild in conversation about children’s writing, and John Blay and Mark McKenna discussing the future of our historical places.
In what will be a festival first, a bar will be set up inside the hall.
“It will be an excellent place to wind-up or unwind around show time, meet the festival artists, catch up with friends and grab some great food,” Mr Martin said.
Late in the evenings Phil Moriarty The Projectionist will spin the discs from his extensive collection of 45s.
