The Lodge Bega Remembrance has donated $1500 to the Bega State Emergency Service for a sked.
A sked is a full body stretcher that can be used either vertically or horizontally, to assist with rescues from heights or in areas that are difficult to access.
“It’s a great piece of equipment,” Bega SES unit controller Yvette Ringland said.
“It will be very helpful for our support jobs and we will also be able to train with it.”
Occasionally the Lodge Bega Remembrance, which has been in existence since the 1800s, has an excess of funds to donate to worthy causes.
“As a result of a three minute brainstorm, we decided the SES would be perfect to donate to,” the lodge’s senior warden David Porter said.
