As part of Pink Stumps Day cricket, the club introduced a women’s T20 format last year and are eager to host the rematch Saturday morning.
“It’s another big day planned,” club president Joe Weller says, “starting from 9am will be the women’s T20 rematch with the Kameruka Pink Cockatoos up against last year’s victorious Eden team.”
Mr Weller said the ladies clash had proved to be a fan-favourite last year, and the club had been busily recruiting a strong line-up to knock the Eden visitors off the perch.
“The women are looking forward to a great day out in the field, but supporting an even greater cause,” he said.
Eden boasts some big hitters at the crease, but the Pink Cockatoos will look to their footballing recruits for safe hands in the field.
The headline fixture for the day will be the regular association round where the Kameruka Black Cockatoos also face off against Eden from 1pm.
Mr Weller said the whole community had got right behind the last two Pink Stumps rounds and had collectively raised more than $2000.
“Everyone gets involved in supporting the Breast Care Nurse program and with the amount we’ve raised in the last two years, we’re hoping to raise another $1000 this year,” he said.
Hosted at the iconic Lord’s View Oval in Kameruka, the club will have a full array of drinks and nibbles available at the canteen.
Mr Weller said tea and coffee were available as well as chips and chocolates, while the club would host a barbecue for lunch and a high tea with an assortment of pink treats to enjoy will be held for ladies during the women’s match.
The club will also have a bar running from noon.
“All profits on the day will be donated to the McGrath Foundation and online donations are welcome,” Mr Weller said.
You can donate by visiting the Kameruka Cricket Club Facebook page and following the links, donations are also being accepted at the Candelo Hotel and at the ground on the day.
Ladies play starts at 9am with the men’s game from 1pm.
