A crowdfunding page has been set up to help cover funeral costs of a man who helped save a young family from a house fire only a few weeks ago.

The page has been set up by close friend Trent McCarthy to assist Lawrence Aldridge’s family with funeral costs after he was tragically found dead on Friday, leaving behind three children.

“He was a family man and he means a lot to us,” Mr McCarthy said this week.

“Helping save the family  is just a glimpse of who he was and what he was like.

“He wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone.”

Neighbours praised Mr Aldridge for his efforts to save the occupants of the house in January, as it was quickly engulfed in flames.

“They’re heroes, they saved lives because in 10 minutes the house went up,” neighbour Mandy Aldridge said at the time.
