Rex criticises Merimbula Airport plans
I guess if Rex decide they don't want to fly into Merimbula anymore, that's their decision. If Rex is correct stating that 45 per cent of seats are empty, what carrier would want to come into such as small market! Certainly not one with larger planes than a SAAB 340. But it will be a sad day if we are left without an air service.

The only problem with this proposal is that there is precious little evidence to support the belief that other airlines will fly here cheaper than Rex. It seems the current runway is long enough to support slightly larger aircraft flown by the likes of Qantas. Yet, they don't fly here. There isn't the demand for a bigger flight. To get that demand you need more tourists, which requires more flights. See the problem? You might get smaller operators with smaller planes, but it won't be cheaper.

People on here saying that they won't get the numbers on the planes are kidding themselves. If you could fly to Sydney or Melbourne for $100 I'm sure there would be a lot more people from the area leaving and returning for weekends away more frequently.

There are a significant number of FIFO workers who can't wait for this to happen.

Good on you Kelsey! For some reason it is becoming far to common to see others belittle and put down anyone that has a go at something or is successful. Why is this? I am happy to see anyone from this area to go well or achieve good things in anything they do. So instead of being negative let's all get behind Kelsey, cheer her on and focus on the positives her being on the show brings!
