A number of people were gathered at a house in the town about 3am when two men, aged 31 and 22, got into an argument.
After the incident, the 22-year-old ran from the house and the older man discovered he had been stabbed so went to the Bega hospital.
He was taken to Canberra and on Monday was in a stable condition. He is receiving treatment for a punctured lung and minor lacerations.
