A man has undergone emergency surgery for a wound inflicted by a police dog at Berkeley.

The dog clamped down on the arm of Darren Butler as police executed an arrest warrant at an address on Barnes Street on Friday, about 10pm.
Butler, 24, of Warrawong, remained under police guard at Wollongong Hospital on Monday, unable to make his scheduled appearance before Wollongong Local Court.
He had still not appeared at court, late Tuesday.
He faces charges of take and drive conveyance without consent, detaining a person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing or using a prohibited weapon and failing to comply with his bail.
NSW Ambulance paramedics confirmed they collected a man from Massey Street, a short distance from Barnes Street, about 10.50pm Friday.
He was transported to Wollongong Hospital with an injury to his upper arm.
The matter returns to court Wednesday.
