The Sea Eagles are sitting dead level with the Merimbula Knights on points, but trail on for and against as competition returns this weekend.
Consistency is proving key with both the Knights and the Sea Eagles offering up regular results in runs on the board and wickets taken.
Both clubs rank highly in all the important stats showing their ability to put on a strong effort repeatedly.
The Sea Eagles have been stronger with the bat and a hair better with the ball, scoring more runs and taking an extra wicket over their nearest rivals.
However, the Knights have lost significantly less wickets than any other team in the competition and are renowned for their defensive efforts at the crease.
Both the Knights one and the Sea Eagles one teams will be the ones looking to gain supremacy when round 10 of the first division draw gets underway, providing the first play in almost a month for cricketers.
Just nine more rounds remain before the competition splits into two semi-final draws and points are at a premium to get a head start on the hunt.
The Sea Eagles one side will return to the finals chase with a round 10 clash against the South Eurobodalla Pirates at the Dalmeny Oval.
Tathra will look to its strong bowling attack in Adam Blacka and medium pacer Pete Bennett, while the batting line-up was hitting its straps ahead of the break.
Unfortunately, the Tathra two side has not enjoyed as much success in the combined season and currently trails the competition with just one win.
Meanwhile, Pambula is emerging as a bit of a dark horse in the competition this year.
The club struggled last year and finished at the bottom of the ladder, but heading into the second round is holding down fourth place, just a few competition points behind Bermagui.
The Bluedogs have a renewed energy on the pitch and will be eager to return to the crease as this year’s strongest batting line-up so far.
There has been some mixed bag results for the Pambula club, but the Bluedogs have also secured comfortable wins over more fancied opponents in early clashes.
The Sea Eagles one side will travel north to Dalmeny Oval, while the Sea Eagles two side are on the road to play Bermagui at Dickinson Oval.
All matches will run on Saturday from 1pm.
