It was a fantastic and life-changing experience for us.
We want to thank Jazz Williams and South East Arts for bringing the Grow The Music Team to Wallaga for the second time and organising the concert.
Sincerely,

Highway ransom
Yesterday I tried to travel up the Brown Mountain at 3.30pm (advertised re-opening time being 2.30pm).
I was horrified to find the road still closed with the possibility that it could reopen at 4.30pm. When I asked why the time had not been changed on the sign at Wolumla, I was told that they were getting to it!
In these days of mobile phones it seems incomprehensible that such a simple thing could not be organised. I believe this was not the first time the mountain did not open as promised!

Hope for happy home
I read with interest that the old Bega Ambulance Station was to become a family home.
I believe I am the only surviving member of the official photo taken at the opening of the station in 1954. The opening attracted a sizeable crowd and the Bega District Band provided some entertainment. During the late fifties the station was inspected by a Minister for Health, a State Governor and a Governor General.
The station was officially opened by Frank Zingle, one of Bega’s memorial civic fathers.
Frank was a long-standing mayor, fire captain and chairman of the local Ambulance Board. It is interesting to note that he chaired a meeting in 1932 to establish an ambulance service in the district.
When established it covered from Batemans Bay to Eden. The first branch station was formed at Moruya followed by Narooma, Batemans Bay and Eden.
I hope the station will become a warm and friendly home and I send my best wishes to the new owners.

Government priorities
The local community must be congratulated in meeting its goal of $450,000 towards the cost of carers accommodation at the regional hospital at Bega.
A very generous donation of $65,000 from the Bendigo Bank ensured that the target was reached.
One must ask however why a small community has been saddled with this burden.
Surely this facility should have been included in the hospital project and paid for by the state government. A government which is proposing to spend $1.6billion on sporting facilities in Sydney cannot find the money to fund a much-needed facility in a regional area.
Says a lot about the government's priorities and that of our local member Mr Constance.

Above and beyond
I am writing to express my sincere thanks to the staff at Momsen Motors who have gone out of the way to help me after I became ill.
They showed nothing but care and assisted in calling an ambulance and then visited me with flowers after I was admitted to the hospital.
Special thanks also to the staff at South East Regional Hospital for all the care I received while I was a patient there.
