Competing for the award was Sapphire Coast Anglican College’s Samantha Gordon and Roslyn Love-Meyer and Bega High School’s James Burgess.
In a close competition, all three students showed their outstanding abilities in answering their two impromptu questions, and delivering their five minute prepared speech.
Roslyn was the overall, and public speaking winner, and will now compete in the Zone competition at Merimbula in February 2017.
The importance of public speaking is recognised at all levels, with a specific award to the candidate judged to be the best speaker during the afternoon.
Organisers thanked the three judges, Greg Bartlett, Jeanette Collins and Malcolm Hughes, and congratulated the three competitors.
