The combination of mirage and a shifting breeze ensured a few points were scrubbed off across the board if you weren’t concentrating. 

Robert L was the sole shooter in the full bore class, but returned good figures of 95/5 of the possible 100/20. 

For those with telescopic sights and bipods, the mirage can warp your view even more and scores were remarkably strong given the testing conditions. 

Craig S headed up the field with 109/5 to win from Russell P on 107/5. 

Scott B was just a couple of bullseyes behind on 107/2 with Colin T in fourth on 106/3. 

One bullseye behind was Mark S on 106/2 and rounding out the field was Tony G with 96/2. 

Officials said no matter what strategy you took for countering the wind, its effect amplifies at long ranges like 500 yards. 

There will be no regular meet on Sunday with a lay-day for the club, while next weekend will be a 600-yard championship prone shoot. 

Entrants meet at the Tarraganda range from 12.30pm.
