Ladies from the Bermagui branch of the Country Women's Association presented a couple of items at "The Recycled Teenagers' Concert" at the Bermagui Country Club on Sunday, November 27. Romance was in the air, with "I Love Paris" and "Seven Little Girls". Most years the CWA ladies get involved with the free concert organised by Lori Hammerton as a relaxed afternoon to entertain the local community. Lori also performed Christmas songs on the ukelele joined by the children from the Buchli family of Bermagui.

Fauna field day
If you'd like to learn about the animals living in Candelo Creek, local ecologist Steve Sass from Envirokey will lead a field day on Saturday, December 3 from 10.30am-1.30pm in Candelo Park next to the Bridge in Candelo. He will present the results of recent flora and fauna field surveys and talk about the new Plan of Management prepared for Candelo Landcare. Bookings: 0448 830 361.
Christmas music
Heartsong will be performing on Sunday, December 4 at 5pm at Cobargo Anglican Church in Hoyer St. All are invited to come and enjoy an hour of Christmas music and refreshments afterwards.
Bega Hospital Auxiliary
Bega Hospital Auxiliary held their final meeting for 2016 last week. The Auxiliary thanked the local community and the business houses who have supported them throughout the year. The auxiliary have just paid $20,000 for electronic Falls Mats for the South East Regional Hospital. To help replenish our funds the auxiliary is selling raffle tickets in the Sapphire Market Place. The final event for 2016 is a Christmas Dinner at Littleton Cafe on Tuesday, December 6, at 7pm.
Big year for BRAWL
It's been another great year for the Bega River and Wetlands Landcare Group who have worked hard to maintain existing work areas but also made significant progress on the Gipps St side of Spenco Lagoon. To finish off this year, the December BRAWL working bee on Monday, December 12, 9.30am-noon, will be maintenance at the Bega River main reserve (end of Auckland St). A shared festive lunch will follow from noon.
Birdwatchers Meeting
The AGM and “Members’ Night” for the Far South Coast Birdwatchers will be held at the Uniting Church Hall, Merimbula, at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 8. After a short AGM, we will enjoy a review of this years’ bird photos and sightings – both local and from farther afield - by some of our skilled photographers.
Tathra Hospital Auxiliary
The auxiliary held its annual Christmas fair last Sunday at the Tathra Hall. Results of the 3 raffles were:- Quilt won by Marni Nicholson. Hampers won by Carol and Tony. Gardening goods won by Val Besant, Sue Collins and Barbara Westmacott.
Bega Evening VIEW Club
Bega Evening VIEW Club will hold its December Christmas dinner meeting at Littleton Cafe, next Thursday, December 8, at 6.30pm. Bookings essential, phone Margaret Sirl on 6492 1377. At last month's dinner, local author Melissa Pouliet, addressed VIEW ladies, giving an insight into the conception of her 4 novels.
