The Bermagui golf club played host to a round of the PGA Legends Pro-Am last Wednesday with 134 starters hitting the course.

The field included 57 professionals including international greats Roger Davis, Mike Harwood and David Merriman to name a few.
Officials said the PGA Legend players were all glowing in their praise for the course at Bermagui and the town itself. “They are looking forward to participating again in Bermagui next year which promises to be even bigger and better,” a spokesman said.
Gary Paterson won the men’s amateur stableford competition with 39 points, while Cherie Rudneski won the Ladies with 35 points off 17 handicap.
The PGA Legends winner on the day was Mike Harwood with a two under par score of 70. Mike was 3 strokes ahead of David Merriman, Stephen Conran and John Onions.
“Thanks go to all the sponsors and volunteer workers, who helped make this day so successful,” the spokesman said.
The club held a par on Thursday and 55 players headed out with Ray Stephens securing the win in A grade on a count-back from Phill Christiansen when both returned on plus one.
Michael Derbyshire led the B grade field with plus two from runner-up Ray Cullen.
Geoff McDonald headed up C grade with the day’s best of plus four from runner-up Greg Cummins with minus one.
Saturday’s round was the ever-popular mixed captain’s v president’s team four-ball best-ball medley stableford.
The club welcomed 70 starters for the day.
The captain’s mob was led out by vice-captain Derek Quinto and his team came in with a total score of 570, but the president’s team scored a total of 599 points. Ron Lye led the president’s team.
The winning pair on the day were from the president’s stable with Bill Tyson and Judith Storey returning a brilliant 50 points.
Runners-up with 46 points were Tracy Howarth and Brenda Whiffen.
The Far South Coast vets play at Bermagui on Friday.
