The Four Winds site BioBlitz is in partnership with the Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness, and invites local schools and the community to join in over 60 guided surveys including flora walks, reptile hunts, peacock spider searches, night-time moth and possum surveys and motion sensitive camera trap discoveries.
There will also be botanical art and photography classes and onsite artists at work as well as an exhibition of their works, and a free lunchtime concert on the Saturday, which doubles as Four Winds’ annual open day. The musicians are an indie string quartet from Canberra called FourPlay.
“The free concert is our warm welcome to anyone who wants to bring a picnic, sit in the sun hopefully, and listen to some fun and funky Indie music played by a young Canberra based string quartet,” said Four Winds communications manager Jessica Taylor.
To find out more about the field study guided walks led by a great list of scientists with interesting stories about their discoveries and research of local flora and fauna, contact Libby Hepburn from The Atlas of Life on 0458 798 990.
Leading the artists masterclass workshops and exhibition will be Sharon Field, a renowned botanical artist who creates superb artworks showcasing native species and is excited to be visiting Four Winds and helping inspire other artists.
