Played at Hayden Drexel Oval, the ACT Aces won the toss and elected to bat.
But some strong bowling by Andrew Twyford (5/7), Matthew Pike (2/6) and Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens’ Trevor Thomason (3/14) restricted the visitors to just 93 in their 18.4 overs at the crease.
In response, openers Wells and Bankstown team mate Kerrod White did most of the damage in the chase. Wells scored 33 before being dismissed by Thomas Engelbrecht. But White (42 not out) and Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ Kieran Gray (12 not out) guided the hosts past the total in the 10th over.
The squad, which also involves Berry’s Chris McCarron, Joel Gray and Allen Sullivan, will now play the winner of the Orana Outlaws and Central Coast Wranglers, in round two at Bradman Oval on November 6.
