BRAWL working bee
At the recent Bega River and Wetlands Landcare Group AGM we farewelled our president Ian who will still be a part of BRAWL but is making space for new direction.
We are so grateful to Ian who has brought a wealth of experience and leadership to the group, as well as delicious cakes that Margaret bakes.
If you are interested in joining the BRAWL Committee we'd love to see some new faces.
Our next working bee will be at Spenco Lagoon on Monday, September 5, 9.30am-12.30pm. We are focusing on Spenco South where so much progress has been made to rehabilitate that side of the lagoon. There will be much removal of privet and maintaining existing plants.
Please wear long pants, sturdy shoes or gum boots, sun safe clothing and bring your water. We break about 11am for a shared morning tea. There is no toilet at the site and the closest will be at Club Bega.
For any questions call 0411 392 333
Our average participation at BRAWL Working Bee's is eight willing hands. It's impressive what this eager bunch can do but with more hands, more can be achieved!
Bega Evening VIEW CLub
Bega Evening VIEW Club will hold its September dinner meeting at Littleton Cafe, next Thursday, September 8, at 6pm for 6.30pm. Please note the earlier time for the winter months. Bookings are essential - please phone Anne Ubrihien on 6492 1758 by 6pm on Monday, September 5. Please inform Anne at the time of booking if you have any special dietary needs, caterers need to know when the numbers are finalised if alternative meals are needed.
Last month local girl Samatha Matthews spoke to VIEW members about her role as a local dental hygienist and the importance of dental hygiene to the community.
There will be no guest speaker at this month's dinner because it is time for our annual trading table, to help raise some more funds for the Smith Family, and our Learning for Life Children.
Please bring along any saleable items to place on the table. Any items unsold please take home with you at the end of the night. There will also be a small trivia contest for everyone to participate in, and Marie Watson will present her reflections.
VIEW Club's theme for this year is: Many voices, one VIEW, making a difference.
Fire service open day
Numbugga Fire Brigade will be having a Rural Fire Service Open Day at the Numbugga Fire Shed on Saturday, September 10, from 10am-2pm. There will be a sausage sizzle and a combined household garage sale. Look for the signs on the Snowy Mountains Highway and come and celebrate with us.
Seniors computer training
Women’s Resource Centre offers seniors free one-on-one tutoring for women who feel threatened by new technology and the Internet. It will enable seniors to learn for free how to use a computer, access the Internet and communicate with friends and family via email. Kiosks are located in community centres like the Women’s Resource Centre, retirement villages and clubs interested in participating in the Broadband for Seniors initiative.
If you would like to use the computers or gain some computer training just drop in to 14 Peden St, Bega, Wednesday-Friday 9.30-4pm or ring Gabrielle on 64921367 to book in for basic computer training Wednesday to Friday.
