“It is the grand final, but like every other game we’ll back ourselves, we’ve got a great group of footballers and we’ll be hitting the ground running on Saturday,” McBain said.

The Sea Eagles lead the tables in the senior, reserves and inaugural women’s fixture with an emphatic final training session held on Thursday night.
“Tuesday night was buzzing and with all three grades in the atmosphere certainly hasn’t waned at all,” McBain said.
“Praparations are in full swing and everybody is up and about, there is a real excitement which is a combination of going into the unknown this weekend. But also the fact teams have worked so hard to get here and we’re now coming to the end.”
It was anticipated the preliminary between Pambula and Merimbula would have been very difficult to call, but McBain acknowledged the skill development of the Diggers to comfortably run out winners over the Panthers.
“We’ve had a good look at the Diggers over the weekend,” he said.
He said the club had noticed “a few” areas the Diggers had shown strength, but wasn’t letting slip what aspects of their game he would look to counter.
“We’ll tell you about a couple of them for Tuesday,” he said with a laugh.
“They’re a good team and they’ve come along way, they were impressive on the weekend.
“In these top level matches you know you’re not going to have the run of it [the ball], but we’ve put a few plans in place and we’ll see how it pans out on Saturday.”
Kiah Beruldsen has the reserves similarly primed for a big match as they look to conquer the Pambula Panthers for the development grade crown.
The Sea Eagles already dispatched of them once in the major semi-final to earn a grand final berth and the win has the line-up feeling confident for a repeat performance.
Women’s coach Col Funston has a team that is practically bursting at the seems with excitement to take part in the first ever SCAFL women’s grand final.
The Sea Eagles have shown tremendous skill and tenacity throughout the year as they look to tackle nearest rival, Eden, just once more.
Games run all day at Merimbula’s Berrambool Oval with women’s to run from noon and seniors at 2.30pm.
