It is the event’s 30th year, and as the largest national fundraising event in the Southern Hemisphere, over that time it has raised over $130million.
This year it is predicted 1500 people will be diagnosed with cancer across southern NSW.
This year’s Daffodil Day theme is “call for someone I know” and is about showing support for someone you know or remember.
There will be two stalls selling merchandise and daffodils in Bega on the day, in Ayres Walkway and the Sapphire Marketplace from 9am until 4pm.
You can also text “hope” to 1999 88 77 to donate $5 to the cause.
“By buying and wearing a pin on this national day of hope, Bega Valley locals can continue contributing to life-saving cancer research, advocacy, prevention programs and support services,” Kate Brett, Cancer Council community engagement coordinator said.
Other merchandise stalls in the Valley will be at the Eden Pharmacy, Market St, Merimbula (outside Merimbula Bay Clothing), on Pambula’s main street and outside Woolworths at Tura Beach.
The stalls will have lots of lovely fresh daffodils, pens, bears and pins available.
