Tathra and Bermagui preschoolers visited Tanja Public School on Wednesday to compete in sports invented by the Tanja pupils.
“The kids came up with their own ideas with a twist, set up the equipment and made up all the rules,” Tanja school principal Rick McFetters said.
The pupils even tested the events to make sure they were suitable for the preschoolers.
“It’s about teaching leadership and using communication the kids understand,” Mr McFetters said.
“They have to be able to think laterally and come up with their own ideas.”
The school has been researching the history of the Olympics during the Rio games and sat together in class to watch Mack Horton’s gold medal swim.
Bermagui Preschool’s Narelle Myers said the day would hopefully become an annual event and is ideal for developing social skills.
