The Feast Of Words will have an exhibition showcasing works of art and photography by least 20 local youths, as well as featuring performances by musicians and poetry readings.
There will also be the bedroom wall project, which will display items that contributed to the exhibiting artists’ works to show some of their personalities and styles.
Bega High School Year 10 student Indigo Walker is organising the event, which is also run as a fundraiser for her school’s overseas trip to Cambodia and Vietnam in the next school holidays.
All money raised will be donated to organisations in the two countries.
“I want people to become inspired and see we aren’t just sitting at home playing computer games or whatever people think teenagers do,” Indigo said.
“It is also a fundraiser at the end of the day, so raising sweet, sweet money for Cambodia would be nice.”
Indigo, who is a writer herself, said the exhibition is for ages 13-20 and would be a relaxed space for young people to show their artistic talents.
The Feast Of Words will be on September 4 from 3pm at Funhouse Studio, 3 Hill St, Bega. Entry is $5, with chai and cakes available.
